A Look at Fashion Modeling

A Look at Fashion Modeling

Fashion modeling has really grown over the years into a very lucrative business. Fashion modeling covers a very wide range of products from covers for fashion, magazines, and editorials to the runaway for big fashion shows. This is the area that basically captures many people’s imaginations when one states the term modeling. Fashion modeling is that part of the industry where supermodels are formed during the long hours with very demanding and tedious work. If you happen to be 5’ 9’’ to 6’ tall and a size ten or less, then you are steps away from fashion modeling.

Fashion models are mostly recruited by the various modeling scouts around the world who are forever searching for new faces and new blood to bring into the fashion business. If you want to be a fashion model you must fit the very basic requirements needed of height and size. You can find some information regarding this on the Models Direct website. You can also take a couple of pictures, create your portfolio and send it to the various relevant agencies. You should ensure the photos are very simple and natural. This will increase its appeal to the agency who might contact you. Most agency want to see a good simple photo, not one trying too much to impress or trying to strike super model poses. You can also call to get agency open casting by contacting them to find out when they are having open casting.

A part from being attractive and meeting all the qualities one needs to have that wow character that defines them from the other models. This will give you an early lead from the other contestants. As a result of the competitive nature of the industry it dictates that passing through these characteristics is very important to being successful as a fashion model. Read more about modeling on the Models Direct blog.

Fashion modeling needs you to be very well groomed and very sensitive of your appearance. You also have to have a professional attitude about your work and the a ability to easily get along with a wide range of people, this is because it mostly involves interaction with people from different social classes and also involves the media who might engage you in interviews at one point or another. In fashion shows and other modeling jobs you will be required to walk along a catwalk displaying clothes and other designs to the audience.

The Rise of Plus-Size Modelling

The Rise of Plus-Size Modelling

Plus-size modelling has become increasingly popular among advertisers in the last two decades. This coincides with the fact that as a society we are getting heavier, and that advertisers have to take their audience into account when making decisions on what type of campaign is required.

The team here at Models Direct have noticed that this trend is having a positive effect on the number of plus-size modeling jobs. Traditionally, modeling was reserved for those with stereotypical slim and tall figures. The developments occurring as a result of the changes in advertising really opened modelling up to a whole new audience. There are numerous brands who specialise solely in plus-size clothing even - the market really is that big. For any product, there is always a model that needs to be found and with thousands of products being launched every year comes thousands of modeling jobs! If you are lucky enough to get some of these assignments, make the most of them and be as professional as possible. A lot of work goes to the same people; those who impress the clients the most!

In some ways, plus-size modelling is easier than traditional modelling - you don't need to work out as much! If you are interested in becoming a model, no matter your body shape, find more resources that might help you in the other Models Direct blogs. "Theo had a great day modelling for the new Pampers 'poo face' advert.  Theo had to take part in some filming and some still shots to enable the director to put together the commercial.  This was great experience for Theo as it has got him use to lots of people, big lights and generally everything that goes on whilst being in front of the camera!  I chose to sign Theo up to Talent Management to get some great experience being a model and I hope that Theo will be offered more modelling roles to continue putting a great portfolio together for future job opportunities. I would recommend anyone to put there baby forward for modelling - I think it's great fun and very good for your baby's development :-). Thank you Talent Management!!"

Models Direct: Health Tips for 2015

January is the month of the year in which we all sign up to the local gym, hire a trainer, and then give up by February! Models Direct know how hard it is to keep on top of your health and fitness when trying to balance a dozen things in your daily life. Sometimes there just isn't the time! Have you set your self a weight loss target for 2015? Models Direct noticed that trying to lose the last few pounds can be the most agonising time of any diet and we leave ourselves open to disappointment with every time we stand on the scales. Half of all women say that they put on any weight they lose from a diet within six months of stopping it. Why could this be? What role do eating habits have in your life?

If you are the kind of person who isn’t too bothered about what or when you eat, but still maintain a slim figure, then you were very fortunate on the old DNA lottery! What and when are the main points here. Our bodies are creatures of habit. They like routine, they know what time it is better than your brain does, and they get upset when things change. How odd do you feel as your body clock adjusts to an extreme jetlag? It makes no sense to the brain, but the body is readjusting to the new cycle of day, night and food intake. Studies on rats fed the same number of calories at different times of the day had startling results. Rats who ate over the longest period of the day, 15 hours, put on weight, and those who could only eat for a third of the day lost weight. Bearing in mind that all rats ate the same amount during 24 hours, for one week, isn’t this surprising? Our bodies have different tendencies at different times of the day. If you eat in the evening you are much more likely to automatically lay down fat reserves. If you don’t eat breakfast, this is also true. Keeping a regular eating routine and not snacking or having late dinners in the evening will help you maintain or lose weight.
