January is the month of the year in which we all sign up to the local gym, hire a trainer, and then give up by February! Models Direct noticed that trying to lose the last few pounds can be the most agonising time of any diet and we leave ourselves open to disappointment with every time we stand on the scales. Half of all women say that they put on any weight they lose from a diet within six months of stopping it. Why could this be? What role do eating habits have in your life?

If you are the kind of person who isn’t too bothered about what or when you eat, but still maintain a slim figure, then you were very fortunate on the old DNA lottery! What and when are the main points here. Our bodies are creatures of habit. They like routine, they know what time it is better than your brain does, and they get upset when things change. How odd do you feel as your body clock adjusts to an extreme jetlag? It makes no sense to the brain, but the body is readjusting to the new cycle of day, night and food intake. Studies on rats fed the same number of calories at different times of the day had startling results. Rats who ate over the longest period of the day, 15 hours, put on weight, and those who could only eat for a third of the day lost weight. Bearing in mind that all rats ate the same amount during 24 hours, for one week, isn’t this surprising? Our bodies have different tendencies at different times of the day. If you eat in the evening you are much more likely to automatically lay down fat reserves. If you don’t eat breakfast, this is also true. Keeping a regular eating routine and not snacking or having late dinners in the evening will help you maintain or lose weight. Fighting off the Winter Blues

It's not unusual for people to get a bit down during the winter. The team at Models Direct had a quick brainstorm and came up with a few things that help them get through the wind and rain without getting overly down. 

Setting aside an evening, or even an hour, a week that you can pamper yourself in will really make a huge difference to your general state of mind. 

Take a bath with some nice oils, light some candles, dye your hair, paint your nails and luxuriate in making yourself look and feel as good as possible. No one feels their best if they spend every evening with their hair scraped back under a huge jumper on the couch.

Give your house a bit of a revamp and make it a cosy place to spend time. Buy a few new cushions for the sofa, add some candles to your mantelpiece that you can light and create a cosy atmosphere. 

Change some of the pictures on your walls, or put up those pictures you forgot about over the summer. When the days are dark by 16:00 you really need to make your home somewhere you love spending time.

Dry and flaky lips detract from your appearance but you can fix them with a simple alteration to your skin care routine. Use the model’s method for exfoliating lips and then follow up by wearing a lip balm in the evening. It is good to one in your pocket to use whenever they feel dry. Want to be more adventurous? You might like a tinted lip balm when male modelling. Lip balms for men have a more natural colour to them so you can add a little visual interest while still treating your lips.

Burning a few calories can be a great boost for self-esteem and morale. Models Direct know that it doesn't always have to be difficult to do either. The average female requires 1500-2000 calories per day to stay healthy and there’s no reason to starve yourself trying to get a perfect female modelling figure. I was booked to star in a video for Medmerry Park, a holiday park company based near Chichester, West Sussex. I was filmed going over a bridge in my wheelchair at the holiday park to a bungalow, where I was greeted by two other models and their model children and we discussed our 'holiday' together.

The next scene I was filmed going up a ramp into one of the bungalows. This was the first time I had been filmed, therefore I have learned a new skill and this has given me more confidence. I enjoyed the experience and would recommend signing up to Talent Management to other aspiring models.

Laura really enjoyed today. She was excited beforehand at the prospect of playing the big sister in a family, especially as at home she is a little sister.

Medmerry Park is a lovely site and the weather helped make the photo shoot go really well. It was a great first experience for Laura who has acted before, but never posed for still photos.  It was such a different and unique experience for Laura, which will give her confidence for the future.

The two day shoot with Latham Trust was a great experience.  Myself and the other models posed as a family on holiday at a caravan park and, despite a cold first day, it was really fun.  I have done some similar work in the past and this was a good confidence booster to help me back into it and has certainly encouraged me to stay on top of my profile to gain more assignments like this.  Talent Management made it easy in terms of organising and sourcing the work, so I just turned up and got stuck in. The best part of the assignment was the shots of our 'family' on bikes - I could have done that all day!  The children and women there with me had not done any work of this kind beforehand and clearly enjoyed the experience too. I am very glad that I got involved!

My assignment on Monday afternoon was pleasing - it was a photo shoot in a lovely house with nice decoration inside and a great view.  I was working with other models, who were very friendly.  Myself and the other models had a friendly chat during the photo shoot, while we were waiting to be photographed. The assignment was organised by Feel Agency and I found them to be very kind and helpful.  The photographer was so funny and did his best to keep the environment warm and friendly. Overall, I had great time - I really enjoyed the assignment and made new friends. Thank you Models Direct.
