A Look at Fashion Modeling

A Look at Fashion Modeling

Fashion modeling has really grown over the years into a very lucrative business. Fashion modeling covers a very wide range of products from covers for fashion, magazines, and editorials to the runaway for big fashion shows. This is the area that basically captures many people’s imaginations when one states the term modeling. Fashion modeling is that part of the industry where supermodels are formed during the long hours with very demanding and tedious work. If you happen to be 5’ 9’’ to 6’ tall and a size ten or less, then you are steps away from fashion modeling.

Fashion models are mostly recruited by the various modeling scouts around the world who are forever searching for new faces and new blood to bring into the fashion business. If you want to be a fashion model you must fit the very basic requirements needed of height and size. You can find some information regarding this on the Models Direct website. You can also take a couple of pictures, create your portfolio and send it to the various relevant agencies. You should ensure the photos are very simple and natural. This will increase its appeal to the agency who might contact you. Most agency want to see a good simple photo, not one trying too much to impress or trying to strike super model poses. You can also call to get agency open casting by contacting them to find out when they are having open casting.

A part from being attractive and meeting all the qualities one needs to have that wow character that defines them from the other models. This will give you an early lead from the other contestants. As a result of the competitive nature of the industry it dictates that passing through these characteristics is very important to being successful as a fashion model. Read more about modeling on the Models Direct blog.

Fashion modeling needs you to be very well groomed and very sensitive of your appearance. You also have to have a professional attitude about your work and the a ability to easily get along with a wide range of people, this is because it mostly involves interaction with people from different social classes and also involves the media who might engage you in interviews at one point or another. In fashion shows and other modeling jobs you will be required to walk along a catwalk displaying clothes and other designs to the audience.

Dry and flaky lips detract from your appearance but you can fix them with a simple alteration to your skin care routine. Use the model’s method for exfoliating lips and then follow up by wearing a lip balm in the evening. It is good to one in your pocket to use whenever they feel dry. Want to be more adventurous? You might like a tinted lip balm when male modelling. Lip balms for men have a more natural colour to them so you can add a little visual interest while still treating your lips.

Enhancing your eyes is an easy way to give your appearance a lift. You can actually wear eye makeup to make eyelashes will appear thicker and darker. One option is to use clear mascara which comes in a tube and goes on the tips of your eyelashes. The clear gloss makes your eyelashes look darker than they really are.

The advantage of clear mascara in for men is that you never having to worry about it smudging it. If you have very light hair sometimes your eyelashes are also very light. If you want to bring them out more than you can with clear mascara then try brown mascara. This will add volume to your eye lashes and accent your best feature for your modelling shoot. Clean away the Calories with Models Direct

models direct
Models Direct
Burning a few calories can be a great boost for self-esteem and morale. Models Direct know that it doesn't always have to be difficult to do either. The average female requires 1500-2000 calories per day to stay healthy and there’s no reason to starve yourself trying to get a perfect female modelling figure. Keeping active and avoiding saturated fats whilst keeping to five-a-day or more will work wonders for your body and mind.

Spend a lot of time on the phone? If you are constantly being called by modelling agencies for new jobs then get away from your desk or sofa and walk around the house while on the phone. By doing this, an hour on the phone turns into an hours walk every day!

Cleaning! The word makes most of us sigh but it can be a great way to stay active. An hour of hovering for example uses twice as many calories as an hour of walking. Do a little bit a few times a day, combined with keeping on top of the dusting and the mountain of shoes in the wardrobe and you’ll keep those calories cycling in the right direction. Turn your stereo up, open the windows, and picture yourself as the latest star of modelling, or perhaps like Mrs Doubtfire, as you get on top of the house.

A professional eyeliner can liven your eyes and look absolutely stunning, readying you for a big day photo shoot or an exclusive party. No matter if your outfit, lipgloss and blush are perfect, bad eyeliner will ruin your look. That’s why it’s so important that you put that little bit of extra effort in when doing your eyeliner. Don’t worry if you’re not all that good at it or don’t have a steady hand, like everything eyeliner is all about practice. To get you started, here are some tips that Models Direct love.

Make it Thick
This trick really does make your eyes stand out while allowing them to be mysterious too. It also really accentuates your mascara so your lashes look lovely and long.

Smudge it
Apply your usual coat of eyeliner and smudge it around the edges. It creates a daring and bold look which is completely effortless but looks fabulous all the same, a favourite with today's teen models.

Use Colour
You wouldn’t believe all the colours eyeliner comes in now, there are countless ones to choose from. You can even match them to your clothes or an accessory you’re wearing. It’s time to start experimenting!

Charlene Beck

Hi

I was booked to star in a video for Medmerry Park, a holiday park company based near Chichester, West Sussex. I was filmed going over a bridge in my wheelchair at the holiday park to a bungalow, where I was greeted by two other models and their model children and we discussed our 'holiday' together.

The next scene I was filmed going up a ramp into one of the bungalows. This was the first time I had been filmed, therefore I have learned a new skill and this has given me more confidence. I enjoyed the experience and would recommend signing up to Talent Management to other aspiring models.

Laura Mason

Laura really enjoyed today. She was excited beforehand at the prospect of playing the big sister in a family, especially as at home she is a little sister.

Medmerry Park is a lovely site and the weather helped make the photo shoot go really well. It was a great first experience for Laura who has acted before, but never posed for still photos.  It was such a different and unique experience for Laura, which will give her confidence for the future.

We joined Talent Management on the recommendation from friends who thought Laura would love modelling work - they were right.  Thank you!

Child Modelling Tips

Models Direct Child Modelling

Child development is fascinating, and as a parent of a child model the more you know about it the better. You probably noticed your child’s unique personality coming out those first few months of life -reaching eagerly for a rattle or perhaps pushing away a teddy bear. After the age of three, your child's personality is really going to emerge.

From age three, children are becoming more comfortable expressing themselves with words, and they begin to interact more with others. They are too young to understand what child modelling is, but can enjoy it anyway.

During a child’s early years they start to gain some self-control and awareness of consiquences. They begin to rely less on you and others and more on themselves. They're learning how to calm themselves when they get excited, frightened, or upset, and they're becoming more attentive and less emotionally reactive.

By age 5, kids typically start showing more concern for mom and dad, at last starting to understand that you have your own needs and feelings. They also begin to show affection more easily, develop a fantasy life, and may see-saw between being demanding and being cooperative.

While your child's personality will blossom on its own naturally, there's actually a lot you can do to help as well as a few things to avoid. Children are all unique, even siblings, so don’t try to make them alike if you have a number of kids.

Interacting with others in a photo shoot helps kids develop physically, mentally, and emotionally. It teaches them to work in groups, have confidence, develop their craft, and try on different stances. When kids play, they practice decision-making, learn to stand up for themselves, create, explore, and lead.
